Kama Ayurveda store visit and haul post

Kama Ayurveda, started in 2002 in India, is a luxury skincare brans that sells authentic ayurveda based skin care products. According to the brand,

Our treatments are 100% natural and use plant-based ingredients, prepared from organically – grown plants and herbs or collected by India’s tribal communities from natural habitats. This means – No artificial colours. No artificial fragrance. No animal ingredients. No petrochemicals, parabens, urea, propylene glycol or sulphates. All our organic products are internationally certified.

I had always wanted to try their products but felt they are too expensive. But recently, I came across many product reviews of the brand and wanted to check out if it was worth the hype.

They have two outlets in Bangalore, one at the V.R Mall and another at 1 M.G mall. I got a chance to visit both the branches and I bought few of their products.

First of all, I loved their store decor. The tranquil Indian instrumental music and pure fragrance from the incense, transports you to a peaceful state of mind. There is an ‘Indianness’ in the store that is so refreshing fro a change. I had done my research on the brand before visiting the stores. They partner with Arya Vaidya Pharmacy to ensure the quality of products. As per the store staff (who was very helpful), their labs are in Kerala but unfortunately, no stores there. From the reviews of many bloggers, I already had an idea of their best sellers (the kumkumadi face serum, scrub and hair oils)

V.R Mall store

1468742100952.jpg

The small store offers products ranging from face care, body care products to authentic ayurvedic oils and incense sticks. I walked around smelling and trying out all the products and even my husband, who is not into the skin care madness like me, enjoyed the music and decor of the store.

I had already read rave reviews on the kumkumadi oil and face mists. I, being not a fan of face oils, did not feel like getting that. Even though I was not planning to buy anything, the store staff spent a good amount of time, explaining the usage of products I showed interest in and I ended up getting the vetiver face mist, as suggested by the staff (for combination skin). He said rose and lavender mists can be a bit heavy for oily/combination skin types.

Also the range of soaps were amazing, most of them smelled really good, especially the rose and red sandalwood ones. So I got the rose, cinnamon, orange soap that had a heavenly fragrance.

Loved the packaging of products and the paper bag I got. I don’t know where the French connection is from, as all the products have details mentioned in French as well.

1 MG store visit

Mohnish and Reema, from the brand arranged my second store visit. The 1 MG outlet of the brand, has an ayurvedic doctor for clients to consult. But to my disappointment, the doctor was not available on the day I visited. Nevertheless, I spent quite some time, checking out the products and finally bought eladi hydrating day cream. This branch actually lacked the music and space of the first outlet and the staff did not look that interested about the customers either(probably because it was quite late in the evening).

I got sample tubes from both the stores and i started using few of them. Samples included hand and foot cream, night cream, face masks, face scrub, bringadi hair oil and tiny bottles of body oils. Also I got a book let with all their product images, % of natural ingredients and a small description.

First impressions:

1468742248549

All the products, smells so pure and are quite light on skin. Even the creams ,inspite of being thick, gets easily absorbed and doesn’t leave oily cast or residue. The face mist is very earthy and refreshing. The ingredient list and quality are really impressive.

The ingredients are very pure and formulated in the best of quality, that only a small amount of product is required for each use. Hence it lasts longer and I feel that the price is justified. Even the 5g tube of face cream, lasted me a week and more, with daily use.

Also I feel a huge difference in the quality and efficacy of the product, even within 2 weeks of use, compared to other pocket friendly alternatives I have tried so far. Wait a second, I don’t think the price difference is much (for the products I bought), as most of the natural brands available, sells products at a comparative cost these days. The face toner for eg, cost only 175Rs when many other handmade natural brands I know, sells it for more.

Also I did not buy the very costly products, that I felt I did not really need in my skin care regime.

The brand also offers pure essential oils, lip balms, body lotions, scrubs, plant based masks and ubtans.

I will be reviewing the products after using it for a while.

Do check out their store when you get a chance and let me know your thoughts.

Bubbles and Squeak Soaps Review

Hi lovely readers, today I am introducing a new brand with a very cute name BUBBLES AND SQUEAK. Already feels like the brand is aiming in making bath time fun, right?

Waseema is the brand owner and she makes bath and body care goodies for babies, adults and also party treats for making our special days , extra special. The products come in good quantity and they are really affordable.

I bought two of their soaps, the coffee soap and pomegranate soap.

coffeepome

PC : Bubbles and squeak

Price : Rs 130 for 110gm, Shipping Rs 34 (one of the lowest shipping charges from )

Ingredients :

Ingredient list for coffee soap : Freshly brewed coffee, Saponified oils of Olive, Coconut, castor, palm, coffee grounds and fragrance.

Spicy pomegranate : Saponified oils of Olive, Coconut, castor, palm, and fragrance, skin safe mica.

Packing : Nothing fancy, simple plastic packing with label.

Buy from : here

My Experience :

The coffee soap is a scrubby soap, coffee powder scattered throughout the soap. It is not harsh on skin and provides great ex foliation. There is strong coffee fragrance and will surely be a treat for coffee lovers.

The pomegranate one has pleasant fruity smell. I did not find it quite natural though, as I prefer natural and mild fragrances.

The soap doesn’t melt fast and lathers well. The lather is thin and frothy and it cleanses the skin. The ingredient list is simple and soaps are affordable. You might need to moisturize the skin after.

The brand has also sells products like bath salts, bath bombs, castile soaps for babies, talc free ducting powder for babies, lipbalms and many other soap varieties and bath treats.

Verdict :

If you are looking for affordable everyday bath goodies that has no harmful ingredients, you can contact the brand. You can get products customized for your needs as well.

Teas Please from Cape of Good soap

Hello everyone, I am enjoying the monsoon here and I have got some great products to keep me refreshed in this dull climate. Also I am thinking of writing a post on my favorite pocket friendly skincare products. Also let me know if you want to write about anything in particular or would like my humble opinion on any product before you spend on it.

So today’s review is about a wonderful cleanser that has really impressed me. Usually when I use handmade soaps I haven’t seen any particular change in my skin texture other than the fact that most of them cleanses well without drying out the skin. Also few are my favourites for its heavenly fragrance.

Teas please is a soap from the brand Cape of Good soap, that I had introduced to you earlier and also I had reviewed another of their soaps in a previous post.

1468589403856

I am not a tea lover and hence the product as such didn’t fascinate me at first. But Manisha send me this keeping in mind my skin condition and requirements.

I have combination skin that turns oily in the T zone towards end of the day. This soap has been fantastic in keeping my face oil free even from the first use. Read on to know more.

1468589518913

Price : Rs 275 for 120gm

Ingredients :Handpicked and hand crushed assorted tea leaves from Bhutan, Assam and Manipur, Tea tree essential oil, green tea essential oil, glycerine soap base.

Fragrance : Very pleasant and soothing green fragrance, as I would like to call it, from all the tea essential oils.

Texture : As you can see, this is a glycerine soap with crushed tea leaves scattered throughout. On using about quarter of the soap, one side became complete scrubby and the other side quite smooth as that of a glycerine soap.

My Experience with the product:

This is by far the best face cleanser in soap category that suits my combination skin. Even with the first use, my skin became completely oil free without dryness and it remained so for the entire day, when I was indoors. Being in dust and pollution is another matter, but that really impressed me, for a soap with very less and specific ingredients.

I like a scrubby particles in soap but I hadn’t mentioned that to Manisha, as I wanted to know what she thinks suits my skin. Now this one gets another point in that aspect and it is really scrubby. Not very gentle though, but for my dry skin at elbows and knees it does help. On other areas I just use the soap lather.

This has considerably reduced mild acne on my forehead and kept my face oil free overnight.

I wouldn’t suggest this to people this dry skin as this might further dry out the skin, but I strongly suggest this for those who has troubles with oily skin.

Verdict :

Very calming fragrance, good exfoliation and excellent in keeping oil at bay. As a facial cleanser it ticks all the boxes for me. Left my skin sldt, smooth and bright.

For my body, I have to moisturize it after bath as my legs tend to get dry patches. So rather I will stick to a more moisturising soap on body unless I crave for the exfoliation.

PS: I tried the rosewood and bergamot soap from the same brand that I had reviewed before on one side on my face and teas please on the other. After washing it off and pat drying, the teas please side looked a tad bit more brighter and much smoother on touch.

Look what came in my mail today!

I am so excited to receive this pack of awesomeness and I can’t wait to use and review these goodies.

So what I got is a box of 3 soaps from Manissha of Cape of good soap. All with really interesting ingredients and all three looks really pretty.

1466518084284

About the brand:

Brain child of Manissha, the brand specializes in custom made soaps and bath goodies. The brand is based on Belgium.

The brand claims ingredients to be pure and organic and each soap is customized, keeping in mind the needs and skin condition of customer. Other products from brand includes shampoo bars and bath salts.

I love the name of the brand and the fact that the ingredients are really different from the ones I have been using so far. The bars look beautiful and smell really nice.

The soaps I received are Green tea, rise wood&mint and pepper&bergamot. The pepper one actually smells like pepper even though it is not overpowering.

This has been chosen by Manissha for my combination skin type with dryness on hands and feet.

Detailed review will be posted after using each of these for a while.

Skin Rehab Soap

I have reviewed Juicy Chemistry soaps before and this one has some special ingredients.

Claimed to be skin rehab soap, this one is specifically for scarred and damaged skin. With healing and antioxidant properties of carrot and scrub action of adzuki beans, this soap is claimed to be super beneficial for skin.

Does it really heal damaged skin???

1465566582016

Price: Rs 850. With an additional shipping cost of Rs100, THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE.

IngredientsShea Butter, Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide (Lye), Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Rosehip Essential Oil,Neroli Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, Helichrysum Essential Oil, Lemon Essential Oil,  Carrot Juice, Adzuki Bean

Colour : The soap is of pale yellow ochre colour with brown particles of adzuki beans.

Fragrance : The fragrance same as the skin rehab butter from the brand. It must be the carrot seed oil smell predominantly and blend of other essential oils.

Texture : It is a solid soap piece and has rough texture because of the scrubby particles.

My experience using the product:

Just like other soaps from the brand, this one also lathers well and makes skin squeaky clean after use. But this did not help with the dry white patches in knees and elbows. I like the scrub effect and it is quite mild. The soap doesn’t seem to heal damaged skin or moisturize it my dry skin. I use it on face as well and I feel this will suit sensitive skin as well.

So basically this is a good soap with exceptional ingredients, but I don’t think it is worth the price. Probably the ingredients might show it’s effect after regular use of same soap over a period of time. But hell no, this is not pocket friendly and not one that’s so great that you can ignore the price.

Spicy Apple Pie anyone???

Juicy Chemistry offers a wide range of gourmet soaps and I got a chance to try few samples. I have reviewed their Hazelnut and vanilla latte soap previously. Did this one impress my skin as much??? Read on…

ApplepiePC: Juicy Chemistry

Price : INR 475 + Rs 100 shipping charges

Ingredients : Shea Butter,  Kokum Butter, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide (Lye), Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Cinnamon Essential Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Apple Juice

Buy from: http://juicychemistry.com

Fragrance : This one has a spicy smells, owing to cinnamon essential oil. It is not over powering and is quite refreshing.

Feel :PicsArt_05-30-03.43.23

As you can see, this soap produces a yellowish brown lather. It doesn’t leave the colour on skin and gets washed off quite easily.

My Experience:

This soap is different than other organic soaps I have used, as the fragrance is not the normal floral/herbal or citrusy smell but spicy. And you can see that the ingredient colour transfers to the lather, which feels like using natural ubtan mix on skin.

All the soaps I used so far from the brand, leaves skin squeaky clean but I don’t find this moisturising. My skin is quite dry and I need to moisturise it after bath. The soap is quite refreshing and ideal for summers.

Yay or Nay?

Does this suit all skin types??? Yes, it leaves a squeaky clean skin but you won’t be satisfied incase you have very dry skin and you expect your cleanser to moisturise as well.

It is on the pricey side with addition of shipping charges. But the ingredient list is impressive and the brand uses certified essential oils and is against animal testing.

The brand offers many more varieties and I want to try them all 🙂

Butter Cream Whipped Soaps

Souffle soaps from Gia bath and body works comes in many variants. Gayatri sent me the chocolate and strawberry ones.

Price : 550 Rs

Gayatri Acharya Brown has her bath and body products under the brand name Gia (named after her cutie pie daughter Georgia).

I have used many products from the range and I am quite impressed by the quality of the products and the open mindedness of Gayatri in taking all the feedbacks, good and bad equally well. She makes sure the customer is 100% satisfied with the products.

Read the review on one of her best sellers: chocolate creme silk here  https://flavoursofbeauty.wordpress.com/2015/07/03/a-divine-chocolate-soap/

Today I am reviewing whipped soaps from Gia. Unlike normal soap bars, these are blends of oils and butters whipped to create fluffy creamy soft soaps. These comes in tubs and smells heavenly.

BB1

Chocolate Decadence Whipped Cream Soap

The first one is Chocolate variant and similar fragrance as Choco-creme silk. You can see the ingredient list below.

BB3

As mentioned a small quantity is sufficient. The lather is very soft and moisturising. Doesn’t strip the skin of it’s oils.

Strawberries & Champagne Whipped Cream Soap

This one feels like a tub of soft cotton candy with bubble gum fragrance. Kids will love this one.I liked the chocolate one better (only based on fragrance).

bb4

In Gayatri’s words: It smells like cupcakes, fresh strawberries, ice cream, candy, and champagne. An absolutely delicious treat for you skin.

Aqua Lily Whipped Cream Soap is also available but I have not tried this.

The ingredients are almost same in all, but the fragrance varies.

These lasts longer than soaps as the quantity required is very less for each wash, when used with loofah.

And there is nothing really negative about these. If you feel that price is a negative wait for sales. Gayatri’s keeps giving discounts every now and then or if you are lucky enough you might get one sample free with your purchase from her.

Hope you all liked the review.

Sultana Of Soaps

Product review : Lush soap ‪#‎Lush‬

Description of the soap by lush > Revel in Sultana’s majesty, and have a wash with the royalty of soaps. It looks like a fancy Italian dessert; a giant nougat cake topped with succulent currants and apricots. Smooth a slice of our soft decadent soap all over your body for a creamy lather and the most dazzling bergamot and olibanum scent. Your skin will be delighted and you’ll be left softer and smelling like a fancy candy shop with a touch of fruity sweetness. If you weren’t invited to the wedding, at least you can brush shoulders with royalty in the shower.

My experience > I got a piece of this wonderful soap from Lush store in Vegas. I did not use this for almost an year and just kept it in a cloth pouch with my clothes, and trust me the smell did not reduce even a bit.

As you can see, this soap has dried apricots and cranberry in it and looks like a piece of cake. When you use it, it gives soft milky foam that just moisturises the skin along with cleaning it.

The fragrance just can’t be explained. I get a feeling that milk baths of Cleopatra might have smelled the same 😛

If you get a chance to go to Lush store, this is the soap to get.

A divine chocolate soap you will fall in love with

This was my very first purchase from Gayatri who is the owner, artisan and proud mother of cute little Georgia.

And let me tell you, there are only pros that follows in this review and no cons. The ingredients list and quality of this soap justifies the price.

Smell: Divine cocoa chocolate smell. Alternative to bathroom fresheners 😉 as the fragrance just lingers in the air when kept open.

Feel : It is an exfoliating bar that is highly moisturising as well as it has cocoa, milk, cream and liquid silk. Lathers well and doesn’t dry out the skin.
The exfoliating particles on it are not harsh on skin and gently cleanses away dry dead skin.

It lasted me almost a month.

The luxurious smell and decadent feel of this bathing bar on skin is truly divine. You don’t need to moisturise your skin after using this, unless your skin type is very dry.

For my combination skin this was a treat. My friend used it as well after my recommendation and she loved it.

VERDICT : Super awesome <3 <3 <3
